In Gay Church, armed with only their guitar and the voice of a gay angel, Tessa Skara leads you through a high-energy, unabashedly queer, and rock-n-roll-as-hell hour of musical comedy that will nourish your LGBTQIA+ soul. Using observational humor about being queer in an increasingly hostile America, and drawing heavily on Skara’s own time spent as a closeted, young (and very "straight") wife, Tessa promises to induce laughter, tears, and (hopefully) gay joy. Expect original comedy songs and stand-up about classic queer experiences like falling in love with your therapist, finding lesbian bliss in the mundane, and how freakin’ gay The Catholic Church can be. Named “The Goddess of Confessional Comedy Rock” by Bedford and Bowery, Tessa performs their unique blend of stand-up and music all over New York City at venues like Joe’s Pub, Carolines on Broadway, The Bell House, Littlefield, Ars Nova, Union Hall, The Duplex, The Brooklyn Comedy Festival, and The New York Comedy Festival.
